May @ Rook Lane is going to be colourful and cultural and creative. Music, art and Swishing events galore…
Get your summer sandals on, march up Bath Street (or meander down from the top) and check out Myrtle Pizzey and Brian Dix’s exhibition (private view – tomorrow 2-5pm then open Tuesday – Saturday 10am-4pm).
On Sunday, the Teatime Concert with Sónia Grané and Tiago Gomes de Matos – vocal and guitar duo – from 5.15pm (concert 6-7pm) promises to whisk you into classical heaven.
But save some energy for Thursday 19 May when Frome’s Big Swish will take place in the chapel – offering you the opportunity to swap your unwanted garments for the unloved clothes of others. There will be wine on offer. And there will also be claws out as everyone dives into the rails of clothes in a bid to secure the dresses they’ve been eyeing up all evening. Not for the faint-hearted. Definitely for the fashion-hearted.
Then there’s the L’Esprit du Jazz concert, offering shades of Django Reinhardt, tango, swing and original compositions, on Sunday 22 May (with saxophone workshops in the afternoon) and to finish off May – Wiltshire Foundation Degree students will be exhibiting their second year work. The theme is urban. The exhibition is ‘Off the Wall’. Show your support.
