Rook Lane Film Night – THE BLUE KITE (LAN FENG ZHEN)
Sunday 3rd February
Screening from 7:30pm, refreshments available from 6:30pm
dir: Zhuangzhuang Tian China 138 mins subtitled
A Beijing family’s eye-view of daily life in China in the fifteen years leading up to the Cultural Revolution in 1966: Zhuangzhuang Tian’s partly autobiographical film is a work of fiction but his evocation of the era and the efforts of ordinary people to live their lives in the midst of its astonishing social ferment is entirely convincing.
