Men with Horns – Nightsong in the Spring
Sunday 28th April
Concert from 5pm
Men with Horns make a return visit to Rook Lane to perform a programme celebrating the spring. Expect to hear choral and solo songs by Schumann and Schubert (Nightsong in the Forest, the Gondolier, Widerspruch), plus Weber’s popular Hunters’ chorus with the lusty sound of natural horns and a lusciously romantic song Frühlingsnetz by the Hungarian composer Karl Goldmark complete the programme.
About Men with Horns….
Founded in 2011 and based in the Bath area, this group consists of a Men’s Choir and Cornucopia Horn Quartet (Paul Sawbridge, Steve Macallister, Alistair Smith, Allen Cheshire), Steven Hollas (piano), Peter Kirk (solo tenor), Niall Hoskin (solo baritone), conducted by Mike Daniels.
Formed originally to perform Schubert’s wonderful “Nachtgesang im Walde”, a repertoire of glorious Romantic music is now being explored, including works by Mendelssohn, Schumann, Wagner and Bruckner.
