Litmus Films: Ukulele Film Night
Friday 10th May
Doors at 7pm // Film from 7:30pm
Since 1985 The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain has been astonishing audiences with their unique blend of genre-busting musicality and gut-busting comedy. For a quarter of century they played in village halls and pubs, but in the last few years the global ukulele boom and YouTube has propelled them from cult heroes to international stars, and they now receive standing ovations from sellout crowds at the Royal Albert Hall and Carnegie Hall.
Documentary filmmaker Robert Stern has had unique access to the band since just before their ascent to the big time, has made several films on them, including one currently in production on the band’s first World Tour, some of which he showcases tonight. A rollicking evening of four-string fun, including the chance to play along to their just-released Live At Sydney Opera House film with on-screen musical notation!
Includes Q&A with director Robert Stern of Litmus Films.
