Frome Festival: Writers & Publishers Day
Sunday 7th July
10am until 5pm
This promises to be an exciting day of talks, presentations and one to one sessions. Writers of all levels are invited to come along and meet famous writers, top literary agents, publishers and other local writers from all genres. Visit the author’s bookstall, the pop up cafe and gift stall.
Words at Frome Festival also offer aspiring writers one to one appraisals / surgeries with Literary Agents.

1:1 WITH LORELLA BELLI
Is particularly interested in brilliant first-time authors, journalists, books with international appeal (crossover literary/ commercial fiction historical, crime thrillers, young adult; memoirs, biography, autobiography, current affairs, popular music, popular science, popular history, business, general self-help, travel, sport, and cookery).
1:1 WITH JULIA CHURCHILL London literary agent Julia Churchill is looking for fiction for children and young adults.
1:1 WITH IMOGEN COOPER Imogen Cooper, Senior Editor, Chicken House Publishing and Director, Golden Egg Academy, is looking for new writers with original ideas writing for children aged 7-18.

FLASH FICTION and Haiku Free admission
Whatever your long-term writing goals, there’s a double chance to share a slice of your writing style and win instant success! Bring a 400 word story on any theme to enter the FLASH FICTION reading event 12.20-14.20 ~ entry £4 on the day, with a cash prize for the story judged best. Or for £1 you can submit a 3-line HAIKU (helpful explanation at hand) inspired by the Rook Lane Chapel art exhibition, and collect from the kitty if you win. Prizes for both events awarded at 2.15 approx, and you must be present to qualify.

MAKING IT UP – OH YOU STORYTELLER £5.00
Michele Roberts will talk about the process of writing short stories: why writers do it, how we get started, what inspires us.
She will draw on her own experience as a writer of short stories and will also discuss stories by Colette, Angela Carter, and Janet Frame. There will be plenty of time for questions from the audience.

“YOU MUST HAVE TO DO A LOT OF RESEARCH” No, I’m a paranoid tyrant myself. £5
Historical novelist Lindsey Davis talks about her Roman detective, Falco how she tackled the English Civil War after thinking about it for forty years, and Master and God, set in the reign of the paranoid tyrant Domitian. She will read from the The Ides of April, her new book featuring Falco’s daughter Albia- and of course answer questions.
