Steve James has been called an “underground legend” and a “true Americana hero” in his home state of Texas from which he travels worldwide.  His live performances rely equally on his highly individual musical aesthetic, his broad knowledge of the roots music traditions that influenced him, and an ironic and humorous world view that informs his songs and stories.

Steve is also a well-known clinician, giving frequent workshop programs for guitar, slide guitar and mandolin, for which instruments he has produced a trove of instructional books, DVDs and on-line lessons.
