Break 3 Teacher Talks: Tales in Trails with Chris Jelley
Thursday 13th February
3pm - 5:30pm
As part of Break 3’s spring education exhibtiion; Free the Words Part 1: Adventures in Outdoor Literacy, Break 3 will host a series of talks and activities for anyone interested in learning more about adventurous reading.
On February 13th, artist and storyteller Chris Jelley will visit for a day of talks, open to any schools and educators interested in a creative approach to literacy.
Recent winner of the Trailblazer Award at the 2013 British Awards for Storytelling Excellence (B.A.S.E.), Chris, with the help of Norton St Philip pupils, will share experiences of a recent storywalk project which has been ‘lifting literacy through geo-located text’. (Or “having the best time ever”).
Although this project is primarily aimed at Key Stage 1 and 2, this will equally be of interest to any school or college about to invest in new technology, or keen to stretch the creative use of existing ones for classroom and / or outdoor curricular learning.
Afternoon talk begins at 3pm, and ends at 5:30pm and will include tea and coffee and a Q & A session.
