Architects like not to presume; they like the empty stage and the idea that when the pure spaces they create are inspiring, life will simply flow in, attracted by the play of light on form. And yet clutter and happenstance often stand in the way, leaving the designer frustrated by the mismatch of the vision to the reality.

Now is the time to learn from gaming, to not only design spaces but the avatars we see as key animators of these future worlds. We need to co-design inside our communities of interest in the here and now, but also have the temerity and curiosity to design for the ghosts of the future too.
