Rook Lane Blog

After a recent trip to Wales, staying in Artists View – a rustic barn in the middle of the countryside – and braving the strong winds, pouring rain and pelting hale, I returned to Frome feeling somewhat refreshed.

Immersing oneself in the countryside – breathing in the fresh air, climbing mountains to glimpse wondrous views, walking alongside flowing rivers and staring at the beauty of natural waterfalls – is therapeutic and a great source of inspiration for art work.

Below are two of my favourite artists who work with natural, found materials – using nature as their starting point and medium.

Anna Gillespie:

Duncan Elliot:

It is so easy to spend these winter months snuggled up inside – but so rejuvenating to wrap up and walk through the wind and rain; to visit the coast and lap up the sea air or even just to sit at the window and contemplate the beauty of the ever-changing seasons.
