Break 3 are currently setting up their exhibition “Summing Up!” in the cafe here at Rook Lane. This showcase of the project’s progress over the past academic year will open officially tomorrow, when the Break 3 team will host a morning of Crop Circle inspired workshops as part of their latest project “Measuring the Land”.
Families with children of all ages are invited to take part in activities, face-painting and games with the Break 3 team, and will have the chance to meet a crop circle maker! On Monday, Break 3 will launch Summing Up! with an early evening singing performance from some of the children who took part in the project this year. This will be followed by a screening of films and animations make during the project. The project aimed to bring a creative and explorative approach to maths and geomtry to primary school children via a range of creative processes including music, drawing and digital media.
Monday night will be a chance for all involved in the project to come together and showcase their discoveries and acheivements to the people of Frome. After the Break 3 showcase, Rook Lane Films will screen the award winning “A Beautiful Mind” – based on the life and work of mathematician John Nash. In some ways it’s a film about how maths can drive you made, but it’s also an exploration into patterns and their relationship to the human condition.
Summing up will be on display throughout the festival from 10am until 4pm daily.
