Steve Peake, Director of Indigenous People and artistic director of the coming tour, confirmed he was delighted to be bringing the show to Frome. “I was brought up in Taunton,” he said “so the opportunity to launch what promises to be our best tours ever is an amazing one.” Tanya Sheriff, owner of Drum It Up Somerset, said “It’s a real privilege for us to welcome such amazing and accomplished traditional musicians to Frome. I am very excited to see this inspiring fusion project and to see some of Africa’s leading drummers playing in my home town. Frome Town Council have supported this cultural event by a grant of £300 through the Majors Grant, of which we are very grateful for”

With an avid following from the days in his former band Gomez, singer/songwriter Ben is returning to Frome to share more of his solo material plus a few songs from the Gomez back catalogue. He will be coming back to Frome following last year’s well-received and sell-out show here and the tour with his bandmates celebrating the 20th anniversary of their Mercury Prize winning album Bring it On.

We have a selection of workshops, play along sessions, open mic and battle of the bands for you to enjoy. You won’t be able to do everything – but it will be fun trying. Details will be printed nearer the day but activities are likely to be between 2 pm and 6 pm with the concert between 6.30 and 10 pm. Reception will open at 12 noon and workshops can be booked on the day only.

I am delighted to return to the wonderful Rook Lane Chapel in Frome. I absolutely love it there. This will be a solo program including music by Villa-Lobos and J S Bach, as well as the lesser known Hector Ayala and Leo Brouwer.
