Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman
Saturday 24th November
Doors open at 7:30pm
Acoustic Set
Twin daughters and a folk-rock whirlwind forced Kathryn Roberts (Vocals / Piano / Woodwind) and Sean Lakeman (Guitar), to sideline their popular duo performances in the mid noughties. Now the Dartmoor based couple return to the fray with a new album, ‘ Hidden People ‘ to bring their own mix of traditional, self-penned and covers back to the stage.
Two of the British folk scenes most accomplished performers, Kathryn and Sean have graced stages the world over in a number of guises, however, the intimacy and strength of passion shown as a duo, combined with an eclectic repertoire ensures a rare treat.
With a story that includes music making with the some of the most prominent folk artists in the UK including Seth Lakeman, Cara Dillon, Levellers, Kate Rusby, Show of Hands and The Cecil Sharp Project, Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman have established themselves as pillars of modern British folk.
Sam Kelly
Britain’s Got Talent Finalist Sam Kelly will be performing as special guest, opening for Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman on November 24th.
Sam’s television appearance earlier this year saw millions of viewers captivated with his rendition of Bob Dylan’s classic “To Make You Feel My Love”. Norfolk based singer/songwriter/guitarist, Sam, made his mark at an early age, performing in clubs, pubs and small venues. It wasn’t long before his talent earned him the opportunity to support internationally acclaimed “Mumford & Sons”
His appearance on Britain’s Got Talent was a last minute decision that has earned him his credit as one of very few young folk musicians to play to a nationwide television audience.
Sam’s debut release is currently being recorded and plans are in place to release this in 2013.
In the meantime, you can have the opportunity to see Sam Kelly perform to an intimate audience at one of Somerset’s finest arts venue “Rook Lane arts chapel” in Frome. Sam’s recent visit to the West included an unforgettable sell out show at the Westbury Music and Arts Festival in September.
This performance is not to be missed!
