Billy J Kramer & Mike Read: An evening of stories and songs

Join 1960s UK chart-topping artist ‘Billy J Kramer’ hosted by DJ/Presenter ‘DJ Mike Read’ for an intimate evening of stories and songs at Rook Lane Chapel on Monday 21st April!
In 1963, Billy was the first person to have a hit record with a Lennon-McCartney song, “Do You Want To Know A Secret”, wrltten especlally for him by John and Paul. The song was recorded with George Martin at Abbey Road Studios prior to The Beatles recording it for their own release. The song was originally released by Billy J Kramer and The Dakotas, landing Billy J Kramer and the band with huge chart success in the UK and USA.
In the US, ‘Billy J Kramer and the Dakotas’ were regarded as part of the British invasion alongside The Beatles and other high profile bands in the 1960s. Back in the UK, they released 2 number 1 singles and 5 top ten singles in the space of 14 months.
To commemorate his 50th anniversary in music, Billy recorded and released new material “I Won The Fight”.
The song “Liverpool with Love” was instrumental in finaly getting Brian Epstein inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Billy J Kramer has recently released his autobiography titled “Do You Want To Know A Secret’
The show will be hosted by legendary broadcaster, Mike Read.
Read has been a broadcaster since 1976, best known for having been a DJ with BBC Radio 1, and television host for music chart series Top of the Pops, children’s programme Saturday Superstore and music panel game Pop Quiz. He is also a prolific author, having written over 50 books, including his autobiography, Seize the Day.[1]Read currently hosts The Heritage Chart Show on various radio stations and Talking Pictures TV. He also co-hosts The Footage Detectives with Talking Pictures TV founder Noel Cronin.
