Current Events

During the Second World War Frome was a destination for evacuees from the urban centres of England. The newcomers to the town included not only children but also schools and businesses. For many people it was a life-defining experience.

The Frome Society for Local Study is presenting an evening during which these years are recalled and celebrated. With input from Home in Frome and Frome Video Club this is an evening to remember a significant part of Frome history and one which is still in living memory.

Local author David Lassman coordinates the event, which combines film and the testimonies of evacuees and their hosts.
