Instructions for an Ordinary Utopia – Launch and talks
Saturday 22nd March
3pm - 6:30pm
Instructions for an Ordinary Utopia builds on Foreground’s interest in curatorial models centred around innovative participatory and distribution structures designed to bring critically acclaimed contemporary practice to new and diverse audience.
The project consists of newly commissioned works sited in overlooked public locations in the town, infiltrated into its social and physical structures and also created in forms that can be distributed directly to an audience outside of the gallery structure, such as artworks created as unlimited multiples, publications and posters. The works are inspired by the interlocking ideas of the manifesto or proposition, the utopian potential of education and popular communication.
The exhibition will inhabit Frome from 22nd March – 4th May, accross a number of public sites.
Rook Lane will be hosting part of the Ruth Proctor commission, and will be the location for the launch of the exhibition on 22nd March.
