Lin Hawkins paints power stations because they are almost like the new cathedrals…of power, wealth and fear; they represent both our need for power, and our ambivalence towards this need. The current mantra `We need to keep the lights on` is a rallying cry for the ends to justify the means. And the means present us with dilemmas, challenges and many issues to resolve.
