Spike Lee’s debut film (and an immersive example of his distinctive and engaging approach to film-making) resounds with the brash confidence and dexterity which have lit up and turbo-charged all of his subsequent films. Nola, the “she” in the title, attempts to identify the front-runner from the three men in her life; this process puts us clearly in her picture and culminates in a memorable showdown at the Thanksgiving dinner table.

Rook Lane Film nights take place every month throughout the year (with breaks for the summer and Christmas), with films starting at 7:30pm or later during the summer months.
Alastair hand picks a diverse range of films from the BFI’s collection, seeking out hidden gems and long-lost classics. Ticket prices include food, wine and conversation!
