The Last Matron:
Tuesday 31st January - Thursday 2nd February
Doors 7.30pm Curtain up 8pm
THE LAST MATRON – A play based on real events and discovered diaries in Frome, brought to you by Dramakarma and Keyford History Group.
A head strong girl desperate to escape the vice-like grip of institutional life. Tensions run high between old aged companions, but without each other what have they got? A war hero with a hidden secret, seeking companionship and solace. Evacuee children ready to take on whatever Hitler can throw at them! And astride it all is the Matron, a protective figure holding lives together.
With a grand old building facing demolition the Last Matron of Keyford watches as a parade of spectres appear before her. The building cannot be saved but it isn’t too late to resurrect the memory of those who passed through its doors.
A play about Keyford Asylum based on real events and discovered diaries. Written by Kevin Ross. In association with Dramakarma and Keyford History Group.
31st January – 2nd February at Rook Lane Chapel (Rook Lane Chapel).
