The World of Apu
Sunday 1st February
Film at 7:30pm // Doors open an hour before
India 1959, director Satyajit Ray
Ray’s Apu trilogy ends with Apu in adulthood, enmeshed in an astonishing sequence of events and concluding the journey which has been at the heart of the first two parts. For Ray too, this masterful sequence of cinematic poetry was a journey and his brilliant treatment of the character and his homeland culminates in this, the maturest and most accomplished film of the set. Minimal dialogue and more of Ravi Shankar’s inspiring music intensify the visual poetry.
